Ask Missing Link Episode 4: What's your social media bible?
What's the correct way to behave online? How do you know what to say and what not to? In this episode of Ask Missing Link, I'll share with you my bible for social media etiquette -- and what it has to say about those kinds of questions.
Ask Missing Link Episode 3: Facebook Page admins update and finding local Twitter users
Holy smokes, things change fast in the world of social media! Two weeks ago, we posted an episode of Ask Missing Link in which we discussed Facebook Page admins: specifically, that you could never change the originating Page admin. Well, the folks at Facebook must have been watching, because now you can! Watch the video for more info, as well as a tip on how to find Twitter users in your local area.
Ask Missing Link Episode 2: Facebook Page admins and handling negativity online
It's time for another episode of Ask Missing Link! We've gotten some great questions from the Missing Link community, including how to change the primary administrator on your company Facebook Page and what to do if you get negative comments online. Have a look!
Trolls and Flamers: How to Respond to Negativity on Social Media
In my presentations about companies using social media, I'm often evangelizing the importance of being responsive to complaints, problems, or issues that might arise in the public space. On social media, oftentimes a problem ignored is a problem magnified. But, then, sometimes responding to a negative comment or post just drags you down into the mud, and something that wasn't originally a big deal blows up out of proportion. Just this morning, one of my workshop attendees asked me how to avoid coming across as defensive. How do you know when to respond and when to walk away?
Not all of our mothers taught us, “If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all”
Companies considering social media often ask us, “What if people say nasty things about us?”
Our answer is, “If people want to say nasty things about you, they are already doing so on other channels. Having an official social media presence allows you to respond.”
Ask Missing Link Episode 1: Facebook Pages and tagging photos
Hi there Missing Link community! Hope you're having a great day.
If there's one thing we've learned in our years of helping companies with social media, it's that people have a lot of questions about social media! So we've started Ask Missing Link. Ask Missing Link is simple: send us your social media questions, and we'll answer them in public, for free.
Here's the first video episode of Ask Missing Link, in which we talk about conversation on Facebook pages and tagging photos on Facebook.
How social media for do-gooders is changing the world
The other day, someone asked me what benefits Missing Link offers in comparison with other social media agencies in the States. It was a great question. I'd like to share my response:
Deb Schultz from Altimeter Group at ConnectNow in Sydney
The following are my notes from Deborah Schultz' talk at ConnectNow in Sydney.
Deb is a web chick form the early days. She's a former web designer and a partial geek (but she doesn't code). She's a translator between businesses and geeks. She's a slash queen (digital ethnographer/customer advocate/connector/tummler), a passionate experimenter, and she was also a Director at Six Apart and launched Citibank.com.

This is Gary Vaynerchuk second session at ConnectNow in Sydney; it's entirely Q&A.
Gary Vaynerchuk on Out-caring the Competition at ConnectNow in Sydney
The following are my notes from Gary Vaynerchuk's talk at the ConnectNow conference in Sydney. I found him totally inspiring.
We live in a "thank-you economy". You have to love people first. The reason we love our parents is because they love us first. You're going to have to love your community first if you want them to love you back.
